Youth and Teen Programs

The NABA youth program provides recreational and rehabilitation programs to blind and visually impaired youth ages eight through eighteen in a 14-county service area.

A strong emphasis is placed on providing vision rehabilitation instruction and on providing important opportunities for socialization and building lasting friendships. The program has grown dramatically over the past three years, and attendance at monthly events has increased greatly.

One Saturday per month, during February and April school breaks, and for two weeks each summer, the program offers a wide variety of fun activities. Students get a chance to practice orientation and mobility techniques, gain confidence in advocating for themselves, and improve daily living skills such as cooking in our teaching kitchen.

NABA Youth Makes the News!

The NABA Youth Progam made the news this May as Reporter Sara Rivest of Spectrum News brought attention to Disability Awareness Month. Watch here as Drake, Haley and Ella Mae work with Vision Rehabilitation Therapists Christina Kendall and David Goodman to learn life skills, build hand strength and skills, and have fun over the three days of preparing foods, cleaning up, opening packages, tying shoes, and more . . .
