The O&M Specialist is responsible for providing evaluations and training in safe adaptive travel skills and ways to establish orientation to participants who are blind or visually impaired.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Evaluate the needs and observe and interpret capabilities of each participant for the purpose of establishing an orientation & mobility teaching plan, providing appropriate instruction using adaptive techniques and/or equipment to address and achieve the goals of this plan.
- Maintain and submit accurate and complete notes on each participant as required by agency administration and program contracts.
- Independently schedule lessons and coordinate programs in a timely and efficient manner in order to meet contractual and agency demands.
- Travel to participants’ work sites, homes, community settings, or educational facilities to provide training and evaluations.
- Perform additional projects as assigned by the Director of Community Services
Minimum Requirements
- ACVREP certified or eligible for certification with ACVREP
- Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills, organizational and problem-solving skills
- Own transportation (to and from appointments within the agency’s service area)

The Staff Accountant(s) is responsible for assisting the Director of Finance/CFO in maintaining records of NABA’s financial transactions, including books of original entry, financial statements, and reconciling accounts payable and receivable. The Staff Accountant(s) will work to optimize the agency’s savings and improve the agency’s efficiency, thus enabling NABA to achieve its mission and goals. The Staff Accountant(s) is responsible for current pricing on products and services, the reduction of the Agency’s financial waste and increasing profits.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Review and post the Daily Cash Report. Maintain & keep files organized
- Apply cash to all NYS and Federal billed receivables and reconcile discrepancies
- Create billings for rent, schools, scanning/doc destruction and other receivables
- Assist/Research for the Annual Audit requests
- Produce Monthly Internal Financial Reports for Finance Committee (AP & AR)
- GL Code and post all Foundation accounting transactions in Quickbooks
- Reconcile all Balance Sheet accounts for the Foundation
- Reconcile all Cash accounts at NABA monthly
- Reconcile all Receivable accounts at NABA monthly
- Reconcile all Fixed Asset Accounts at NABA monthly
- Analyze actual manufacturing costs and prepare periodic reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs; recording cost information
- Analyze data and record results accounting for changes in product design, raw materials, manufacturing methods and services provided to determine effects on cost; set up new item codes and BOM’s; work closely with NYPSP in timely submission of pricing data.
- Create J/E’s for the Jane Diamond and Gift Annuity Investment
- Update Rehab tracking file with all VR auths communicated, processed, and paid; create all Rehab Auth billings in Mas90 and follow-up with collection
- Backup to the Front Desk Receptionist
- Other duties as assigned by the CFO/Director of Manufacturing
Minimum Qualifications:
- Proven work experience as a Cost Accountant, Cost Analyst, Accountant or similar role
- Thorough knowledge of accounting procedures, preferably in a manufacturing environment
- Experience with SAGE accounting software preferred
- Computer literacy, MS Excel in particular (familiarity with pivot tables, advanced formulas, graphs and dashboards)
- Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail
- Strong time management skills
- Integrity, with an ability to handle confidential information
- BS degree in Accounting, Finance or relevant study

- Provide assessment for and training in using computer operating systems, word processing, file management, Internet services, and related assistive technology for text enhancement, Braille access, and speech output/input
- Deliver individualized, multi-phase instruction to consumers based on their educational and/or vocational needs, as communicated by the consumers and their respective referral sources/counselors
- Provide assessment and training in agency- and community-based employment and educational settings
- Maintain and submit the required documentation on consumer activity/progress, in accordance with program procedures and special contract requirements (with the NYS Commission for the Blind and Visually Handicapped)
- Evaluate and test client computer hardware and software to ensure its functionality and compatibility
- Travel throughout the agency’s service area in the delivery of the above-detailed services

Minimum Qualifications
